It’s on! The New South Wales TCC is being run on the weekend of Saturday 12 March, and Victorian climbers are very welcome to attend.
There will be a workshop on the Friday, organised and run by four-times Australian tree climbing champion Brett Hamlin, so it will be well worth attending.
Entry is $150 for Arboriculture Australia members, and entry details will be posted on the Arb Aus website soon. We hope it will be very soon in fact, as entries close on Fe5 25.

The last VTIO committee meeting of 2010 will be held at NMIT Fairfield at 5pm on Tueday 14 December. There will be a barbeque, and the chance to catch up with industry friends before we all take a break for Christmas. Please come along to talk about the events that the VTIO ran in 2010, and what we can do better next year.

On the weekend of the 20th and 21st of November, climbers are invited to head up into the beautiful King Valley on the edge of the Alpine National Park, to spend the weekend climbing and working on a rural property. Typo Station is a place for disadvantaged young people to build skills and self-confidence; it is run by the non-profit organization Evolve. Climbers will be working to prune or remove various trees around the property, followed by a bit of recreational climbing then an evening barbeque and bonfire. This will be a very low-key and informal event, and is mainly an opportunity to get together with some other climbers and have a relaxed weekend away whilst doing a bit of climbing for a very worthy cause…

The results for the 2010 VTCC are now available, with apologies for the delay in these being published. The VTIO would like to congratulate Tom Oldmeadow for winning the 2010 VTCC Master’s Challenge in the Men’s Masters Grade, and Jessica Knott for winning the Women’s Masters.
Tom McLennan won the Men’s Open Grade with great scores in every event, and Quinton Garlick took home the prize for overall winner of the Student category.

Registration is now closed for the 2010 Victorian Tree Climbing Championship.
Gear check for the competition will be held at Cannings of Mt Waverly from 3pm to 5pm on Friday 22nd October. Competitors are asked to download and complete the Draft PPE and climbing gear inspection record prior to attending. The competition will be held in Burke St Park in Warragul. Competitors are asked to arrive on site at 7:00am, judges by 7:30am for a prompt start. Coffee will be available on site!
The competition is planned to be run across two days, with the Masters’ Challenge being held on the Sunday morning. This may however be subject to change depending on weather forecasts and conditions. Further details will be posted here closer to the date.
